Create portraits inspired by Masters in the art of painting

That was the starting point of photographer Irfan Intekhab.

Inspiration

The idea was not just to highlight the natural beauty of women but rather to create a story through the composite beauty that comes from their clothes and body in harmony with colours and light.

The mood board for this photoshoot included a lot of paintings and other photographs that were inspired by paintings.

The expressions were intended to be anything but shy, smiling and natural. They were blank, uncompromising and focused on storytelling.

“The story concept was about a woman’s life until she finds solace in herself. It is about the phases she goes through when she is growing up. Trying to find satisfaction and happiness in various ways and have the ultimate feeling.”

Lighting

As this was inspired by paintings, Irfan wanted to keep the light fixed, as a single lighting setup, to give a more organic and painterly feel.

For this, he chose one Elinchrom Compact unit with a 135 Rotalux Octa softbox. This lightshaper gives the most even and beautiful wrapping light, perfect for this concept.

For this, he chose a single Elinchrom Compact unit with a 135 Rotalux Octa softbox. This lightshaper gives the most even and beautiful wrap-around light, and so it is perfect for this kind of concept.

Irfan thought about choosing the 175 version, which is even softer and more wrap-around, but he had to consider the location, which could not accommodate such a big lightshaper.
